The Body Shop

 

From 2009 to 2012 ACIM participated, together with ECPAT International and The Body Shop, in the global campaign against trafficking of children for sexual purposes. Under the name “Stop Sex Trafficking of Children and Young People”, this initiative reached thousands of people, with a total of 2.3 million signatures in all Europe, 95,000 of which came from Spain.

This action, which had a great influence worldwide, contributed to stand out the vulnerability situation in which many children live. European Commission was asked for its intervention and the action stressed into a greater implication and development by Member States.

Among the contributors to the campaign, countries such as Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Poland, Spain, Sweden and the UK must be stood out. Spain, specifically, worked with the main goal of raising awareness on the problem, with a surprising result. Thousands of signatures were collected and highlighting a reality that requires a political commitment and urgent measures (care, intervention and formal measures), with the main purpose of offering protection and attention to victims of sexual exploitation and, in this way, facilitate the prosecution child trafficking networks, with the establishment of more effective and concrete punitive measures.
